Located in Lobito Bay about 4.8 km long, the Port handles 2,000,000 tons of cargoes and nearly 400 ships per year. As economy evelops in the Benguala region, facilities in the Port are undergoing expansion. It used to be the principal port in the country partly due to Benguela railway. The port handles about 600.000 tons each year and has 1122 mts of berths.The maximum allowable draft is 10 meters.
